EXPLANATIONS FOR POPULAR CONCRETE WORK:
HOW ARE CONCRETE FOUNDATIONS MADE?
Foundations are one of the most important elements of a home, especially in a state like Florida, that has such a wide variety of soils. We specialize in different types of foundations from monolithic slab, shallow footings—which are grade beams connected to piles, regular footings, mat slabs and pad foundations.
These types of foundations have reinforcement steel and are complemented with concrete. They are formed using wooden forms. Once the concrete has been cured the wooden forms are removed.
WHAT IS CONCRETE SLAB?
Concrete slab is a vital element of a structure—it is fabricated to provide a flat surface. Slabs can be on the ground, suspended or both. Slabs also help with thermal comfort. By radiating or absorbing heat, they create a heating or cooling effect on the human body. Concrete slabs usually go underneath the flooring; however, it has become more popular to have polished exposed concrete slabs as a luxurious floor finish.
WHAT IS SALT FINISHED CONCRETE AND HOW IS IT INSTALLED?
Salt finish is an inexpensive and a more traditional way to finish concrete. Salt finish is most popular in nonfreezing regions of the country. It is usually installed using rock salt which is spread around and pressed into the concrete using a roller. The salt does not dissolve into the concrete so after the concrete has been cured, the salt can be removed using a pressure washer or a brush. After this has been done, the salt crystals leave irregular dimples in the concrete creating a texture.
